SANDAG
Newswletter SANDAG newsletter provides access to key regional
information. The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is
the region's primary research and planning agency, providing the
public forum for regional policy decisions about growth,
transportation, transit planning and construction, environmental
management, housing, open space, energy, public safety, and
binational topics.
As a public service, SANDAG distributes
"rEgion," a free monthly electronic newsletter. To subscribe to
"rEgion," go to www.sandag.org and enter a valid e-mail address in
the box at the bottom left corner of the page. Then, each month, you
will receive information to keep you updated on critical projects
and services underway and planned in the San Diego region. It's a
great way to stay in the loop!

Members: North County Times, SignOnSanDiego.com, 1st Pacific

Presentation to the
Board –Presenter: Pete Aadland and Tom Kelleher of the North County
Transit District. Tom provided an overview of the business
and economic development going on throughout North County by NCTD.
Some of the important statistics are: NCTD serves 12 million riders
a year; they have 165 buses on 53 fixed routes; they operate 35
Coaster cars and locomotives that provide 118 trips per week.
The Sprinter project bringing light rail along the Highway
78 corridor is on schedule to be completed by December 2007. Along
with 22 miles of track and the 15 passenger platforms, a maintenance
facility has been constructed in Escondido to house and support the
trains. Every day the Sprinter will make 64 train trips between
Oceanside and Escondido running every 30 minutes from 5 AM – 9 PM.
The expected rider ship for the Sprinter will be over 10,000 the
first year increasing to 15,200 by 2015. The final cost for the
Sprinter will be approximately 450 – 484 million
dollars.
Marketing Committee – Diane Strand, Committee
Chair, briefed the Board on activities of the committee. A new
Outlook publication is planned for sometime in the 3rd quarter. It
will be a look at North County in the year 2020 with input from a
number of business and community leaders along with thoughts from
our elected officials.
Also, the committee is looking at
producing a video or television program that will look at the
business clusters and have interviews with business leaders that
will be carried on a variety of public access or commercial
stations.
Public Policy Committee – Paul O'Neal,
Committee Chair, reported on the status of the SANDAG Energy
Working Group and the recommendations from Paul's subcommittee to
take no position on the current energy transmission projects
currently being reviewed. The SANDAG Board voted to accept the
recommendation and took no position. Congratulations to Paul on the
outstanding work and representation on behalf of the
SDNEDC.

| Introducing SDG&E's Energy Saver Bonus
Program |
| |
On February 1, SDG&E®
kicked off a new program to help you save energy and take greater
control of your energy costs this year.
The Energy Saver
Bonus offers a special one-time cash bonus to qualifying businesses
that save energy year-round, and during critical times this summer,
by participating in both an Energy Efficiency AND Demand Response
program for smaller businesses from February 1, 2007 to June 30,
2007.
Year-Round Savings (Energy Efficiency) Small
Business Super Saver has cash rebates for small business customers
installing energy-efficient equipment. In many cases, customers may
qualify for equipment upgrades at no cost.
Two Summer
Savings Programs to Choose From (Demand Response) The Peak
Day Credit program has been improved so it's easier to qualify for
bill credits during hot summer days. Now, all you need is a minimum
of 10% energy reduction when requested, and you will receive a bill
credit equal to what you save (up to 20%).
OR:
The
Summer Saver program provides an annual bill credit when you agree
to have your central air conditioning unit cycled off and on for a
few hours on select summer days. The annual credit varies based on
the size and number of air units at your business.
Don't pass
up this cash incentive. Call your contractor today to find out how
you can qualify. Visit www.sdge.com/energysaverbonus for more
information or call 1-800-644-6133.
Helping your business
save energy is one of the ways SDG&E is developing energy
solutions to help the region.
