Presentation – Chairman's Roundtable Partnership
David Duval – CRT Board Chair, Sponsor Development,
Bob McRann – CRT Board Chair, Client Evaluation & Mentor Assignment,
Anne Prasse – CRT Co-Chair, Client Development
The CRT (Chairmen's Round Table) is a non-profit, volunteer organization compromised of successful Chief Executive Officers with diverse industry backgrounds. CRT offers free business advice on critical client issues and provides a
framework for their solution as well as focus on strategic choices that will make significant differences in the client companies and the lives of their people. The business advice and mentoring are from former CEO's that go through an
intense four hour mentor training program through CRT prior to meeting with clients. CRT however, doesn't provide financial assistance, write business plans, create marketing or sales plans and doesn't focus on tactical issues. CRT focuses
on strategic issues and problems a client has. CRT has mentored over 170 local companies such as Nixon Watches, Ranch & Coast Magazine and ProfitLine. CRT clients come from their members and sponsors.
A good CRT client has:
• $5m revenue, 25 + FTE's = leverage
• Limited or no real outside Board
• No financial crisis or actively raising funds
• CEO – coachable, willing to see and share problems, CEO is in control of the business and able to act on solvable problems
• Able to dedicate average 3-4 months for 2 meetings a month for 2 hours
The partnership goal between the CRT and the SDNEDC is to strengthen the San Diego North economy and aiding businesses which ensures the quality of life in San Diego North.
Marketing Committee – Diane Strand, Marketing Chair, reported that the committee will be utilizing an intern, Erika Palmer, in the development of marketing materials for the Center of Entreprenomics and the SDNEDC marketing
materials. A press conference was held on the healthcare cluster that resulted in an article being published by the San Diego Daily Transcript. The Marketing Committee informed the Board that the committee is looking for more participation
and announced that the Marketing Committee meets the first Wednesday of every month at 3:30 p.m. at the SDNEDC office. Diane Strand also introduced our Marketing Makeover Winner Hope Baca.
Public Policy Committee – Chris Jennewein read the report from the Public Policy committee. The Airport Authority has dissolved the Site Selection committee and Miramar has been selected as the desired location. An advisory
proposition will be on this November's ballot. Oceanside Chamber of Commerce has decided to support the proposed Sunrise Powerlink Project. SANDAG Energy Working Group (SDNEDC has a seat on this committee) will be involved with assisting
SDG&E in long term resource planning. Nevada Hydro will be presenting at the upcoming Public Policy committee meeting.

HirePatriots.com Job Fair
HirePatriots.com, a locally run Web site that encourages people to hire service men and women rather than illegal aliens, is hosting a job fair at Camp Pendleton this week and asking local business leaders to attend.
The site's organizers invited businesses, transitioning troops, veterans and their spouses to come to Camp Pendleton's Staff NCO Club, Thursday, July 27th, between 10AM and 4PM for the fair. Several Fortune 500 companies and top local
businesses have been asked to attend.
Organizers are inviting people, particularly those in industries like trucking and diesel mechanics to law enforcement, customer service, construction, supervision, nursing, logistics and management, which many military personnel have
already been trained in.
"We believe that every job in America should be offered first to qualified troops and their spouses. They've earned it. "Troops First" should not be just a slogan," said HirePatriots.com founder, Mark Baird.
