San Diego North EDC Elects New Board

The San Diego North Economic Development Council (EDC), a coalition of private and public sectors that work to promote North County, on Tuesday announced its newly elected board of directors.

Paul O'Neal, president of Paul L. O'Neal and Associates consulting firm, will be the new chairman of the board. He will replace outgoing chairman Chris Jennewein, vice president of Internet operations at the San Diego Union-Tribune, who will remain on the board of directors.

Julie Wright, president of (W)right On Communications, will be the new vice chair.

Diane Strand, owner and producer of the Escondido-based video production and media solution company JDS Video & Media Productions, Inc., will be the new treasurer.

Representing County Supervisor Bill Horn, Courtney Berlin will be the new secretary. Horn is a founding member of the San Diego North EDC.

Also elected to the board: Garry Bonelli, communications director for San Diego Association of Governments; Kevin Ham, economic development director for the city of Vista; Juanita Hayes, public affairs manager for SDG&E; Gary Hill, director of community involvement for the Gemological Institute of America; Hugh Constant, vice president of the San Diego World Trade Center; Linda Bailey, a representative of Merriam Mountains; Karen King, executive director of the North County Transit District; Joe Gabaldon, director of government and community relations for Cox Communications; Gregg Landers, a representative of CBIZ Nation Smith Hermes Diamond; Dennis Guseman, dean of the College of Business Administration at California State University at San Marcos; Varinda Missett, advertising director of the North County Times; Victoria Muñoz Richart, president of MiraCosta College; Robert Deegan, president of Palomar College; Noel Trias, managing director of Benefits Matrix; Jeff Segall, director of community relations for Tri-City Medical Center; Karen Haynes, president of Cal State San Marcos; Dan Wray, CEO of BioFilm Inc.; and John Osborne, director of external affairs for AT&T.
